In 2006 we won our first award, at the Tourism Industry Association of New Zealand national Tourism Awards – with Melissa being the first woman, first person of Maori descent and youngest person to win the prestigious 'Pacific Asia Travel Association Young Tourism Professional of the Year' Award.
In 2007 this was followed by two awards in the New Zealand national Women’s Business Awards – 'Best New Business' and 'Outstanding Business Citizenship', (in 2008 we were a Finalist in the 'Best Micro Business' in the same awards). Also in 2007 at the national Maori Business Awards, we won the 'Best Maori Women in Business' category. We were 'Highly Recommended' in the 2007 edition of the Lonely Planet Guide book and featured in the Lonely Planet 'Best of Auckland' Guide book.
During 2008, in New Zealand’s most prominent business newspaper, the National Business Review, we were listed in the Top 5 of the 'Most Exciting Companies – Maori Sector'. The 2008 Lonely Planet Guide book ranked Mõhio Tours in its 'Top 10 Maori Experiences', as well as listing it 5 times in the book! Also in 2008, the renowned US Conde Nast Travel Magazine featured a Mõhio private tour in its '32 Travel Experiences of a Lifetime' list.
NB: These awards and accolades were won either under Director Melissa Crockett’s name, or under our former trading name of ‘Potiki Adventures’.
